Cell Phones ARE NOT Going To Be Open To Telemarketers!
There are currently many emails going around saying that cell phones will be subject to telemarketing calls.
THIS IS NOT TRUE!
I went to the FTC web site (http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall) and found the following message:
“Cell Phones
You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.
You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. “
On the otherhand – you can register your cell phone with the National Do Not Call Registry by dialing 1-888-382-1222. It is a FREE call and only takes a few seconds. You must make the call from the cell phone that you want to register. Then you will be done and do not every have to worry about these type of emails again!
Or – You can choose to just ignore the email:-)

These emails may be prompted by the launch of a new 118xxx (directory enquiries) service in the UK which has gathered mobile numbers through buying lists, rather than from the telcos. I’m not going to give the full number because I don’t want to give them free publicity.
The equivalent opt-out service in the UK is at :
